XXIX Encuentro Internacional de Escritores

Goldman has published five novels and two books of non-fiction.

Fiction:

His novel Monkey Boy (2021), was a 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist, and an American Book Award Winner. His novel Say Her Name (2011), won the Prix Femina Etranger for best foreign fiction in France; The Long Night of White Chickens (1993), won the Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction; The Ordinary Seaman (1998) was a Dublin International Literary Award finalist and a PEN/Faulkner finalist. The Divine Husband (2004) was a Believer Magazine fiction prize finalist.

Non-fiction:

The Art of Political Murder (2007), won The WOLA/Duke Human Rights Book Award, & was the basis for an HBO documentary film. The Interior Circuit: A Mexico City Chronicle (2014) won the Premio Metropolis Azul in Canada.

These books have been published in sixteen languages.

His journalism, essays and reviews have appeared in The New Yorker; Harper’s; The New York Review of Books; The New York Sunday Times Magazine; The New York Times Book Review; The Believer; Dronómanos, and many other publications.

He has received a Cullman Center Fellowship, a Guggenheim, an American Academy Berlin Prize, & a 2018-19 Harvard Radcliffe Institute Fellowship, and in 2022 was a fellow at the Civitella Ranieri Foundation. He is also a Borchardt Foundation fellow. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He was awarded a 2018 PEN Mexico Award for Literary Excellence.

He co-directs and co-founded the Premio Aura Estrada, a biennial prize for women 35-and-younger, from our hemisphere, who write prose in Spanish or indigenous languages. He lives in Mexico City with Jovi, Azalea & Jojo.

He is at work on a new novel.
